The Dudley Corporation - In Love With The Dudley Corporation

"Sounding like they're playing their instruments while falling down a flight of stairs, then dusting themselves off for a brief moment of introspection, this Dublin three-piece have perfected the whole stop/start, quiet bit/loud bit thing.
While Pavement and The Wedding Present are an obvious inspiration, it paints them into far too narrow a corner - AM incorporates cello and violin, while Count Me In manages to be both epic and minimal. Elsewhere the relentless dynamic twists and splutters teeter between rock exhilaration and jazz noodling but are original enough to suggest something special is not far off"

"These Dubliners are the masters of gentle, wistful songs and lush soundscapes. But Blessed Are The Strong proves they can rock it up with the best of 'em"

"When they got to the crossroads with the sign reading 'comfortable mediocrity' one way and 'awkward brilliance' the other, Dublin's The Dudley Corporation are one of those rare bands who've chosen the latter. When it works, as on 'New Song For You', they make a two-and-a-half-minute song sound like an epic, bursting its banks in a flood of time changes, frenziedly jangling guitars and alternately urgent and raw vocals.
Elsewhere they sound like they started with something okay and just arsed around with it a bit to make it sound cleverer. The brave thing about them is that when they're playing it straight on 'Painting Futures Red' or 'Maybe I' they're already a good band, sounding something like The Smiths on a rollercoaster. They just decided to push it a little further and that's to be applauded"
